Overdraft Protection at United Bank of Union

United Bank of Union’s personal checking account customers are entitled to enjoy the benefits of Protect-A-Check overdraft protection. When you maintain a personal account in good standing (making regular deposits and bringing your account to a positive balance at least once every 30 days) United Bank of Union will honor overdrafts up to the preassigned account limit. An overdraft fee will be assessed for each transaction and deducted from your limit. You will be notified by mail for each overdraft. No interest will be charged on the overdraft balance. The amount of any overdraft fee that you owe us shall be due and payable upon demand.

An overdraft notice will be sent each time items are paid or returned. Overdrafts that exceed the established Protect-A-Check limit may result in checks being returned to the payee unpaid. An overdraft fee of up to $35.00 (see Fee Schedule) will be assessed to your account and the overdraft notice will notify you of our actions.

Your Protect-A-Check limit may be available for checks and other transactions made using your checking account number or automatic bill payment and recurring debit card payments.  Also, at your request, we may authorize and pay ATM transfers or withdrawals and every debit card transactions using your limit. Whether your overdrafts will be paid is discretionary and we reserve the right not to pay for accounts in poor standing, or who abuse the protection limits.
